- The news networks Tox News and MSNPR are parodies of Fox News, MSNBC and NPR. Tox News specifically is a pun on the word "toxic". The hosts are also parodies of Tucker Carlson and Rachel Maddow.
- The monsters following the red and blue ones are parodies, those being:
- Four Chan Saurus (4Chan)
- Facebookzilla (Facebook and Godzilla)
- Mecha-Reddit (Reddit)
- Ro-gan (Joe Rogan and Rodan)
The Fall of the House of Monty[]
- The segment's title is a reference to the Edgar Allen Poe short story The Fall of the House of Usher.
- The Raven from the very first Treehouse of Horror episode makes a cameo.
- A future, obese Homer is drinking a Big Slurp cup, a parody of Big Gulp owned by 7-Eleven. This parody also appeared in the segment "Denim".

- The segment is a parody of Tom Hardy's Marvel trilogy franchise film Venom, with Denim being a parody of Venom.
- Comic Book Guy is seen with a Big Slurp cup, a reference to Big Gulp owned by 7-Eleven again.
- Denim asks Homer if he has stopped following Marge on Facebook.
Trivia[]
- Bart and Lisa only appear in the segment "The Information Rage", unless it counts Bart as The Raven in "The Fall of the House of Monty".
- Additionally, Maggie does not appear in any segment at all (being the second time since "Treehouse of Horror XVIII" where this has happened). However, she appears in the opening with a few other characters that don't actually appear in any segments either: Krusty the Clown, Sideshow Bob, Pedro Chespirito, Kang and Kodos, Itchy and Scratchy, etcetera.
- This is the first Treehouse of Horror episode since XI where Matt Groening has multiple scary names throughout the credits.
- This is the first Treehouse of Horror episode since XIII where the title card doesn't exactly say "Treehouse of Horror [Roman numerals]". That episode's title card read "The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror 13", and episodes before that were titled "The Simpsons Halloween Special [Roman numerals]".
- This is the second time Hank Azaria's scary name is "Angst Azaria" since VI.
