Smithers demonstrating U.S. Male Service to Homer

Smithers demonstrates the app to Homer in "Portrait of a Lackey on Fire".

U.S. Male Service is a gay dating app for men, which Waylon Smithers reveals to Homer in "Portrait of a Lackey on Fire."

Various men from Springfield are visible on the app.

Reception[]

Smithers disparages its users as well as the Springfield dating pool, telling Homer, "It's all these guys who don't want to commit," before disparaging Disco Stu's heteroflexibility by saying he is "going through a phrase."

The following users appear upon Smithers's scrolling:

Trivia[]

  • While saying "It's all these guys who don't want to commit," one of the men Smithers scrolls through is John, possibly his ex. John once blew off a date with Smithers, leading to an awkward confrontation at Sha-Boom Ka-Boom! Cafe as seen in "Homer's Phobia".
  • The large amount of men in hardhats is a likely reference to Ajax Steel Mill and its many gay steel mill workers featured in "Homer's Phobia". However, their hardhats were originally white in "Homer's Phobia." In turn, the steel workers' aesthetic is likely inspired by David Hodo, the construction worker character in 1977 gay disco band, Village People.
