History[]

At the National Energy Convention, Homer Simpson and Mindy Simmons represent the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. While there they are met with poor reception, including someone who shouts, "No more Chernobyl!" [1]

The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening's paternal family originated from a Mennonite settlement in Ukraine.[6]

After Russia launched its full scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the official Simpsons Twitter account released a tweet showing Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie each holding and draping over on them flags of Ukraine, showing solidarity to the country in response to the war.
