Hello everyone, your fellow admin TheWarriorBeast890 here and we have brought attention to the fact that The Simpsons: Tapped Out is shutting down after 12 years, which the free-to-play mobile game launched back in 2012.
We've started playing Tapped Out in April 2022 after we bought a new phone until now, we've discovered the message that the game is shutting down after A Bart Future 2024 Event. There're questions asked about this closure. You can also read more in the post on Facebook.
- Update 9/28: The cash conversion to donuts has been fixed.
- Update 10/3: You may no longer download the game as to be delisted from the app stores on October 31st.
- Update 10/31: The Simpsons: Tapped Out has been officially removed from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Why this happening?[]
On September 26, 2024, EA announced that The Simpsons: Tapped Out will be shut down on January 24, 2025, while the app delisted from the app stores on October 31, 2024, and in-app purchases have already been disabled. We know that makes it heartbreaking to everyone (including myself) which EA made the difficult decision to sunset Tapped Out. You may still play the game until EA shuts off the servers on January 24, 2025.
Upon seeing the message, you will no longer make in-app purchases, as well as you will no longer to be downloaded from the app stores for new download.
The possible explanation on the game's closure is due to the 10 year contract signed by EA with The Simpsons expires in 2025, having being signed November 2005.
If there's any more events?[]
Unfortunately, this is the final event and content updates will not be released anymore. EA celebrates overall, 308 updates, 831 characters, and 1,463 questlines to have the game.
If there's any returning contents during the shutdown?[]
Of course! Certain items are available on each wave during Taps 2024 Event before shutting down. However, some items (such as Weird Al, Alaska Nebraska, and many more) aren't returned. It runs from September 26, 2024, to January 24, 2025.
- Wave 1 (2012-2015 content): September 26, 2024
- Wave 2 (2016-2017 content): October 1, 2024
- Wave 3 (2017-2018 content): October 8, 2024
- Wave 4 (2019-2021 content): October 15, 2024
- Wave 5 (2022-2024 content): October 22, 2024
Should I get a refund after I purchased a donut pack?[]
For any recent purchases, visit Google Play or Apple to contact support to request a refund. However, their advisors can't provide support with your purchases or refunds.
What happens after the servers shut down?[]
After the date, you will not be able to play the game once the servers go offline unless you have to workarounds (such as fan-made servers). Keep in mind that even though they signed thousands the petitions in public, the game cannot be guaranteed to keep the game running once the servers shut off completely.
Before shutting down occurs, you can import your town to be shared and viewed on the website by Spanser (when is available again). Unlike the game, your town snapshot would have better quality than screenshot.
Note: Petitions are complete fraud; do not post the petition with external links, or you would face the consequences.
