Colonel Wainwright Montgomery Burns (or Colonel Burns) (1829-1890) was the father of Clifford Burns. Clifford's own son (and Wainwright's grandson), Charles Montgomery Burns, it appears, Wainwright forcibly adopted Charles Montgomery Burns (and moving him one generation backwards) and is responsible for transforming him from a carefree boy into the miserly old man he is now so often perceived as. Many of Charles Montgomery's cold-hearted characteristics are noticeable in Wainwright as well. Charles refers to him as his father, as seen in "The Color Yellow".
