Werner Herzog Stipetić (born September 5, 1942), better known as Werner Herzog, is a German film director, producer, screenwriter and actor. He is considered one of the greatest figures of the New German Cinema. Herzog's films often feature heroes with impossible dreams, people with unique talents in obscure fields, or individuals who find themselves in conflict with nature. He has directed films such as Aguirre, the Wrath of God, Nosferatu the Vampyre and Fitzcarraldo, as well as documentaries such as Grizzly Man and Encounters at the End of the World.
In The Simpsons, he provided the voice of Walter Hotenhoffer in the episodes "The Scorpion's Tale" and "Crystal Blue-Haired Persuasion", the voice of Dr. Lund in the episode "Screenless", and appeared as himself in the episode "Mother and Child Reunion".
