• The original title of the episode, "Ladies Night," was a reference to the song of the same name by Kool & The Gang. The original title is referenced on the billboard text.
• The synopsis is a reference to "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" - a song, most famously, covered by Cyndi Lauper.
• In the Pharmacy: the Musical segment, the song played is a reference to Officer Krupke from West Wide Story.

• The episode is a spiritual successor to "22 Short Films About Springfield."
• A semi-complete title sequence is used (albeit redone due to the stronger focus on women), which has since become rare in modern seasons and was not done since "Homer's Adventures Through the Windshield Glass."
• In this episode, Bart only appears as a unicorn in Lisa's dream. Not counting this, this is the second episode since "Four Great Women and a Manicure" where he was absent; interestingly, that episode was also an anthology with female main characters.
