Thomas Woodrow Wilson (December 28, 1856 – February 3, 1924) was the twenty-eighth president of the United States, serving from 1913 to 1921. He is famous for reforming labor laws, granting women the right to vote, and creating the League of Nations, the predecessor to the United Nations.
Bart Simpson saw his picture on the wall of Edna Krabappel's classroom when he pranked his teacher by answering her personal ad. Inspired by his picture, Bart signed the letter as "Woodrow."

Richard Milhous Nixon (which is where the character of Milhouse got his name) with Milhous also being President Nixon's mother's maiden name and similarly Woodrow was President Wilson's mother's maiden name.
