"Yellow Planet" is the third Disney+ exclusive episode and the 786th episode of The Simpsons. It was released on April 22, 2025. The episode was written by J. Stewart Burns, directed by Timothy Bailey and Hugh Bonneville guest stars as the voice of the narrator.
This episode also marks the last performance by Pamela Hayden in broadcast order; in production, her last performance was the first Disney+ exclusive episode, "O C'mon All Ye Faithful."
The Simpsons are reimagined as animals in a National Geographic-style nature mockumentary.
Plot[]
In a documentary exploring the remnants of the animal kingdom, the beluga whale and the narwhal are introduced as the first species, drawing a comparison to Homer and Marge. As summer concludes, they separate due to being a different species, with the narwhal vowing never to forget the beluga. When his companions inquire about their time together and begin to sing, the narwhal solemnly states that he will not see the beluga again.
The documentary also focuses on the marine iguana, a species that endangers its offspring by laying eggs on some of the world's most hazardous beaches. For instance, one hatchling, resembling Milhouse, falls victim to snakes. Educators, resembling Chalmers and Skinner, gather the young iguanas to teach them survival skills. The initial task is to reach a safe area amid the surrounding rocks. One individual, reminiscent of Martin, volunteers but fails when detected after beginning to move. Subsequently, two others, resembling Nelson and Bart, attempt the same and allow other iguanas to be captured. Bart's counterpart sacrifices the rest to achieve success, securing a place on the rock alongside the educators. Ultimately, he decides that ending his own life is preferable to enduring such an existence.
