Zooey Claire Deschanel (born January 17, 1980) is an American actress, musician and singer-songwriter.
In the music industry, she is best known for being part of the indie duo She & Him (with M. Ward) which was formed in 2006, where she performs the lead vocals, plays the piano and ukulele.
In the acting industry, she plays supporting and leading roles in many films, such as Elf, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 500 Days of Summer and Yes Man, as well as playing the role of Jess Day in the FOX Sitcom New Girl. Additionally, she played herself on the FOX 25th Anniversary Special.
In The Simpsons, she played the role of Mary Spuckler in 3 of The Simpsons episodes - Season 19's "Apocalypse Cow", Season 24's episode premiere "Moonshine River" and the Valentine's Day episode "Love is a Many Splintered Thing".[1]
